Midnight Celebration

A 14-1/8” x 1-3/4” bowl that is an extravaganza of color and sparkle set on a black glass base punctuated by windows of translucent colored glass, which backlight softly to give this piece unique multi-dimensional qualities.  There are many other 3-D elements that lend great depth, beginning with a layer of silver sparkle across the black base and topped by the colorful confetti, including scintillating green adventurine.  The 3-D confetti effect was achieved by halting the fusing process at the exact moment the thin colored glass flakes began to melt, resulting in fused glass confetti that sticks up from the surface of the glass as if it was just sprinkled on.
